Accidents are not accidental – the very next day after Google refused to cooperate with Huawei, information appeared about the transition of the Chinese brand to its own operating system. Officially, this information has not yet been confirmed, but Huawei CEO Richard Yu pointed out this development. Back in March, he hinted that his company was not afraid of increasing US sanctions, as he had insured himself and prepared his OS for mobile gadgets.
According to insiders, Huawei was preoccupied with the problem long before the outbreak of trade wars, and it cannot be ruled out that the true plans of the Chinese were more ambitious than a simple concern for security. The operating system “Hongmeng” began to be developed from 2012, it has long been brought to mind and even has been used on various Huawei smartphones not intended for sale for several years. That is, the company was ready at any time to abandon Android with minimal risk to itself.
True, it is not quite clear what the word “Hongmeng” means – the code name of the project, the name of the new OS only or is it a whole platform?
